Icom has released the new version of the DSTAR Gateway
software. It is referred to as "G2" (for Gateway
version 2). This new version will be implemented
over the next few weeks across the entire DSTAR network.
Beginning the weekend of April 5th, repeaters will start the
migration and the planned completion date is the May 4th.
In the version 1 environment, a gateway administrator
registered each valid user. In G2, each user must go
online and enter their registration information.
After the request is received, a gateway administrator will
review the request and take action on the request.
Version 1 registrations will NOT be carried forward to
G2. Every user must go online and request a new
registration! While the "G2" gateway for K4DSO is not
implemented on the mountain at this time, it is up and
running (with no RF modules attached) and available for
registrations. (The online link is listed below but
keep reading before you jump to the link.)
As part of the registration request, a user will be asked to
enter their call sign (must be all upper case), their name,
email address and accept the terms of usage statement.
Once an administrator takes takes action on the request, an
email will be sent to the requestor. After
approval of the request, you must log back on (using the
password that you established) and define an entry for your
radio. This is done on the 'Personal Information'
tab of the web page. On the personal information
page, do the following:
Check the box to the left of "1: yourcallsign";
Enter a space in the "Initial" box; enter your call (lower
case) in the "pcname" field. Then click the
"Update" button.
